Morrow didn’t just shine offensively — she dominated on defense as well. She led the conference in rebounding (14.0 rpg) and ranked among the leaders in steals (2.5 spg).
She was the only player to receive more than two votes for Defensive Player of the Year, with Tennessee’s Talaysia Cooper (who led the SEC in steals) being the only other player to receive multiple votes.
While Texas forward Madison Booker earned four votes for Player of the Year, Morrow’s two-way dominance left little doubt about her status as the conference’s best player.
Mikayla Blakes Named SEC Newcomer of the Year After Record-Breaking Season
Blakes wasted no time making an impact in her freshman season. The high-scoring guard shattered records, including the SEC single-game scoring record twice – first with 53 points against Florida and then with an NCAA freshman-record 55 points against Auburn.
Blakes finished the season averaging 23.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.5 steals per game, establishing herself as one of the nation’s most exciting young stars. Her ability to take over games made her the clear SEC Newcomer of the Year, though Kentucky’s Georgia Amoore was also in contention after receiving three votes.
Vic Schaefer Earns SEC Coach of the Year After Texas’ Strong Debut Season
Texas wasted no time proving it belonged in the SEC, and Schaefer was at the center of the program’s incredible transition. In their first season in the conference, the Longhorns finished as co-champions of the SEC regular season, snapping South Carolina’s 57-game conference win streak along the way.
Schaefer’s ability to adapt and lead Texas to immediate success made him the clear choice for SEC Coach of the Year, beating out Kenny Brooks, who also received votes.
