Ta’Niya Latson Transfer Portal: Top Landing Spots for Florida State Guard

    Ta’niya Latson averaged 25.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.6 assists in 29 games in the 2024-25 season and was a second-team All-American. In a surprising move, the leading scorer in Division I this season announced through her agents that she’s entering the transfer portal.

    Her agents at Klutch Sports Group told ESPN on Thursday that she is entering the portal but keeping her options open.

    Potential Landing Spots for Ta’niya Latson

    Latson is a junior guard at FSU an she was the team’s best scorer in all three seasons at FSU. Latson is considered the best player in the transfer portal this year, and such isn’t going to be short of suitors.

    Florida State

    With Klutch Sports Group announcing that Latson is keeping her options open, returning to Florida State is always an option. She’s spent 3 years at FSU, and she already feels comfortable. It is at FSU that she grew into one of the most promising talents in the nation.

    While at FSU, Latson was named ACC Rookie of the Year and set the conference record with 10 Rookie of the Week honors. She also won the USBWA National Freshman of the Year and the WBCA Freshman of the Year award.

    USC

    USC star guard Juju Watkins tore her ACL in this year’s NCAA tournament, and she’ll probably miss the whole 25/26 season. Latson could spend her last year of eligibility in Southern California.

    No one can replicate what Juju Watkins offers USC, but Latson is good enough to patch up the hole Watkins’ injury will leave on the team.

    South Carolina

    The South Carolina Gamecocks are one of the most powerful women’s basketball teams in the nation. Led by Dawn Staley, they are currently chasing their third title in four years. One way to keep a winning team at the top is to add more talent, and Latson is a very talented player.

    South Carolina’s Raven Johnson, who once played with Latson, has already started her pitch. “I’d tell her, let’s run it back,” Johnson said. “I’m definitely gonna try to get her to come here. I’m gonna be in her ear. I would be happy. We all would be happy to play with her.”

    LSU

    Kim Mulkey has transformed the Tigers into a dominant force in women’s basketball. She won the 2023 championship and has developed stars such as WNBA star Angel Reese and current LSU star Flau’jae Johnson. Pairing Latson and Johnson is such an exciting prospect.

    In 2021, Latson took a trip to Texas during her recruiting process. Vic Schaefer could still be interested in the opportunity to coach her, especially now that she’s grown into a better player.

    Texas is currently in the Final Four of the 2025 NCAA tournament, meaning Latson will be joining a team with the opportunity to win titles.
