IN PICS: 138 Days After Transfer From Dawn Staley’s South Carolina, MiLaysia Fulwiley Poses In LSU Threads In Laidback Photo Dump

MiLaysia Fulwiley is now an LSU Tiger after playing two seasons for the South Carolina Gamecocks. In the off-season right after the NCAA championship, Fulwiley entered the transfer portal and chose to join Kim Mulkey’s ranks from Dawn Staley‘s. And it seems like Fulwiley is now actively fitting in with the LSU team and culture as well.

In her recent Instagram story, MiLaysia Fulwiley posted a dump of her repping LSU colors, wearing a yellow t-shirt, purple LSU track pants, and yellow New Balance shoes. The dump included three snaps of her outside on the campus and a mirror selfie of her inside her accommodation. She put up the story by adding rapper Rod Wave’s song “Long Journey.”

Fulwiley entered the transfer portal after coming to eligibility following her two seasons with the Gamecocks. Within this tenure, she won a national championship in her freshman year and her debut even drew the attention of Magic Johnson. Following her electrifying debut, Johnson compared Fulwiley to the likes of LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Victor Wembanyama, and Nikola Jokic.

Through her career, Fulwiley has averaged 11.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists so far, while shooting 43% from the field. Following her transfer, MiLaysia Fulwiley became the second South Carolina player to depart with eligibility remaining as she joined her senior center Sakima Walker.

South Carolina coach Dawn Staley was not surprised by this transfer at all. In fact, she very much expected Fulwiley to enter the transfer portal, which she spoke about in an appearance on the New York-based radio show “The Breakfast Club.” Coach Staley even wrote about this incident in a chapter of her upcoming book, ‘Uncommon Favor.’

South Carolina Gamecocks Have No Bad Blood With MiLaysia Fulwiley

South Carolina’s sports director Matt Dowell expressed last month how the Gamecocks have ‘no bad blood’ with MiLaysia Fulwiley. In fact, they are grateful to Fulwiley for helping win a national championship and are eagerly looking forward to facing her in new colors soon.

As the Gamecocks will face the LSU Tigers on Feb. 14, Dowell thinks nothing is going to be weird on Valetine’s Day. He said:

“I know that it’s all love between everybody. I don’t think there’s any bad blood between the Gamecocks and MiLaysia or anything like that, so I don’t think there’s going to be any weird tension. This game is on Valentine’s Day, so I hope it’s all love between everyone.” (49:00)

Perhaps MiLaysia Fulwiley will now be able to give tough competition to her previous team in new colors. Many analysts already deem MiLaysia to be a great addition of both flair and experience to Kim Mulkey’s backcourt.
