Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has been getting a tremendous amount of attention since her days as a star for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Her emergence as a star has helped grow women’s basketball in recent years to heights it has never seen before. However, as with anything that is popular, there are many people who want to tear her down.
Clark gets a lot of hate because some people think the attention she gets is unearned. However, she has received support from some high-profile people in the sporting world, including arguably the most famous women’s athlete of all time, tennis star Serena Williams.
While Caitlin Clark was still in her rookie season last year, she was controversially left off Team USA’s Olympic roster. Many of Clark’s haters jumped on social media to say her omission was deserved. When asked about it, Serena Williams told reporters that Clark should not read much into the negativity online.
“I just love that she tries to stay grounded and what does she say? She doesn’t look at her social. I get it, I don’t either. No matter what other people do, if people are negative, it’s because they can’t do what you do, basically. Hopefully she’ll continue to do what she’s doing,” Williams said.

Caitlin Clark Called Out Her Supporters for Their Hateful Language
While there are many people who do not like Caitlin Clark, there are also many who take their love for her too far. Notably, after Clark was left off the American Olympic roster, it led to an influx of racist, sexist and homophobic comments online.
Clark spoke with the media after this started to occur and urged fans not to use her name to push their negative agendas.
“People should not be using my name to push those agendas. It’s disappointing. It’s not acceptable,” Clark said. “Treating every single woman in this league with the same amount of respect, I think, it’s just a basic human thing that everybody should do.”
Since being left off the Olympic roster last year, Caitlin Clark has continued to grow as a superstar in the WNBA. She is, by most metrics, the most well-known player in the league.
