Azzi Fudd’s newest venture has started in full flow. UConn star started her own podcast show called ‘Fudd Around and Find Out.’ Over the past few episodes, Azzi has used the platform to speak her mind and engage in interesting conversations with her guests. On the latest episode, Serena Williams’ former coach, Rennae Stubbs, appeared.
Fudd started with sharing her experience at the Hall of Fame induction of UConn legends Sue Bird and Maya Moore. Along with her co-host, Ashanti, Fudd then talked with Stubbs about fashion in women’s sports, the recently concluded US Open, her tennis career, and her winning mentality.
Azzi Fudd asked Stubbs what her biggest achievement was in her tennis playing career. The 54-year-old Australian said winning the Australian Open in the doubles category was one of the best moments of her career. She gave examples of Caitlin Clark and Azzi Fudd to put her point across.
“I guess winning my first major title in Australia. You know, you always sort of dream at that moment, and you don’t say, ‘Oh, I’d rather win Wimbledon first, or oh maybe the US Open or Australian Open would be great.’ I never thought that way,” Stubbs answered (17:36).
“I just thought, ‘Boy, if I win one Major title, I’m going to be the happiest person in the world.’ It’s just like you, Azzi, like winning a national title. Does that say, ‘Oh, that’s it. I’m good now, I don’t have to prove anything. Or if I didn’t win one, I’m sure Caitlin Clark would have loved to have won a national title,’ but it didn’t make her not be one of the best players.”
“But it kind of helps if you can at least add that to your resume. I’d been a very very good player for a long time. I’d been No. 1 in the world, all the things I’d wanted, multiple tournaments on the WTA Tour, but I hadn’t won a Slam,” Stubbs concluded.
Rennae Stubbs and Lisa Raymond won their first Grand Slam together at the 2000 Australian Open. Stubbs won a total of six Majors in the doubles category, including two mixed doubles titles.
Azzi Fudd, Paige Bueckers’ NCAA Title Journey With UConn
Before hard-launching their relationship this summer, Fudd and Bueckers made headlines with UConn by winning the national championship.
Fudd was returning from a long-term injury, and it was Paige Bueckers’ last chance to win a national championship. Having used an extra year in search of the title, the duo gave it their all and won the 12th NCAA championship for Geno Auriemma’s program.

Paige dominated the season with 19.9 points per game and totaled 176 assists. Fudd played a fitting supporting role. She led the team with a 43.6 three-point field goal percentage and averaged 17.5 points per game in the NCAA Tournament
