UConn Star Forward Sarah Strong All Set For The Olympic Stage Following Her Fiba 3×3 Selection?

Sarah Strong arrived at UConn as the No. 1 recruit in the 2024 class, carrying a resume that included three North Carolina state titles and the 2024 Naismith High School Player of the Year award.

Her freshman season was very impressive. Strong started all 40 games, averaging 16.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.3 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game, with a 58.6% field goal percentage. She set an NCAA record for most points by a freshman in the 2025 NCAA Tournament (114), including a 24-point, 15-rebound performance in the national championship against South Carolina.

With stats like these, Strong’s selection to the 2025 FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series roster wasn’t a surprise to anyone. She’s a three-time FIBA 3×3 U18 World Cup champion (2022, 2023, 2024), earning MVP honors in 2024 after leading Team USA to gold in Hungary.

She also won gold at the 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup, averaging 7.2 points and 7.7 rebounds in just 14.3 minutes per game. The 6-foot-2 forward’s versatility, shooting, passing, defending, and rebounding, make her a perfect fit for 3×3’s high-speed, positionless style, which is played on a half-court with a 10-minute clock and 12-second shot clock. The first team that scores 21 points wins the match.

For the upcoming FIBA 3×3 in Marseille, Strong joins a young Team USA roster alongside LSU’s Mikaylah Williams, Oklahoma’s Sahara Williams, and 3×3 veteran Cierra Burdick. They’ll face the Czech Republic and France in Pool C on Friday, with games at 10:15 a.m. and 2:05 p.m. ET, respectively. The team is also slated for the Ulaanbaatar Women’s Series in Mongolia on June 18–19, with more events likely to follow.
