Paige Bueckers’ 100th game for UConn was supposed to be a milestone moment, but it quickly turned into a nerve-wracking experience. The Huskies were in control of their matchup against Villanova when a frightening incident occurred.
Fans who were celebrating her achievement suddenly held their breath as Bueckers limped off the court. Given her injury history, concerns immediately grew about her status.

Paige Bueckers Injury Update
UConn held a commanding 26-point lead in the third quarter when Bueckers chased a loose ball. Villanova’s Jasmine Bascoe also went for the ball, and in the process, Bueckers’ leg got caught underneath her. She fell awkwardly and was visibly in pain before slowly making her way to the locker room.
The moment was captured on video, which was posted on the X page of UConn on SNY with the caption, “Paige Bueckers hops to the locker room at halftime after grabbing her knee in the final play of the first half.”

“paige bueckers” and “knee” is not something i like to hear in the same sentence…” someone else said.
UConn head coach Geno Auriemma provided an update postgame, reassuring fans about Bueckers’ condition. Auriemma said on the SNY broadcast:
“She’ll be fine. She looks good. I’m optimistic, let’s put it that way. I feel good,”
He also compared the injury to a past situation involving teammate Azzi Fudd, who suffered a similar setback.
“Like when it was with Azzi, it’s not the worst thing that we could imagine. So that’s great news, considering how awkward it was,” Auriemma explained.
Bueckers’ WNBA Future and Injury History
For Bueckers, this injury scare came at a crucial point in her career. She has battled serious injuries before, missing most of her sophomore season and sitting out the entire 2022–23 campaign due to a torn ACL.
Despite those setbacks, she has been the Huskies’ leader this season, averaging 19.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and four assists per game.
With WNBA scouts closely watching, Bueckers remains a top prospect and is widely projected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft. Her ability to bounce back from injuries and lead her team has only strengthened her reputation as a future star at the next level.

Although she did not return to the game, she later reappeared on the bench with ice on her knee. UConn secured a dominant 83-52 victory, but the focus remained on Bueckers’ health moving forward.
Fans will now wait for further updates to see if she will miss any time or if she managed to avoid another major setback.
