After drafting Paige Bueckers as the No. 1 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, the Dallas Wings have won the WNBA lottery once again for 2026. Despite Bueckers’ Rookie of the Year season, the Wings finished last in the league and fired their head coach, Chris Koclanes. Wings have now hired Jose Fernandez as their new coach for the next season.
With some luck, the Wings have secured the No. 1 pick at the draft. With back-to-back lottery wins, Dallas will look to build its squad around Bueckers and strengthen all the areas that were lacking last season. Women’s college basketball is filled with some of the most talented players. Many consider this class to be one of the most talented ones in a long time. Lauren Betts, one of the frontrunners for the No. 1 pick, recently reacted to the Wings’ lottery win.
A reporter asked Betts if she was following the latest updates on the WNBA draft lottery and how Paige Bueckers’ Wings had won it again. Betts answered with a laugh:
“That’s amazing. It’s so cool. Yeah, I don’t have a lot to say about that right now. But that is really amazing and I’m excited to see what the future holds. But just loving being a Bruin as of right now. So I’m gonna focus on that.”

Fans React to Lauren Betts’ Reaction to Wings’ Lottery Win
Many are dreaming of a Paige Bueckers and her girlfriend Azzi Fudd’s reunion in Dallas. However, others opine that the Wings should go for Awa Fam or Lauren Betts to fill the gap of a quality center.
“We want her here in LA,” one fan demanded.
“Dallas could use a Big like her though, right? Not sure why people wouldn’t think Dallas would want her. I guess it depends on how free agency goes too,” another said.
“She’s not getting drafted be the wings she’ll go to Chicago or DC,” one fan claimed.
“Think this is going to be an exciting offseason. Once the CBA is finalized, free agency is going to be complete chaos. Every team’s needs will change. And everyone’s draft board is going to keep swapping between, Lauren Betts, Awa Fam, and Azzi Fudd,” one fan explained.
“In other words, “I know I’m not going first” next question,” another speculated.
“Too bad she ain’t going number 1. But Azzi is,” one fan commented.
