‘The Numbers Were Shocking’ — Paige Bueckers Clarifies on Being an Investor and a Player in the 3-on-3 League, Unrivaled

Days after being picked No. 1 overall in the 2025 WNBA Draft, Paige Bueckers joined Robin Roberts on “Good Morning America” Wednesday. The two discussed a variety of topics, including UConn’s secret to producing so many talented players and the rise of women’s sports.

Bueckers, who recently signed a three-year deal with the 3-on-3 league Unrivaled, also discussed the league, calling the numbers out of its first season “shocking.” Founded by WNBA players Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart in 2023, the league is coming off an inaugural season that exceeded $27 million in revenue, more than double what it projected to investors, sources told ESPN.

Paige Bueckers Calls Unrivaled Numbers ‘Shocking’

Bueckers’ first-year salary in one 10-week Unrivaled season will exceed her four-year WNBA deal as the No. 1 overall pick, sources told ESPN. She is set to earn $78,731 her first year, according to the WNBA’s collective bargaining agreement.

“I mean, investing in women’s sports, the return on investment has been amazing, at even their first year the numbers were shocking and they just blew it out of the water,” Bueckers said. “Just to invest so much in women’s sports it’s growing at an all-time high and it’s just a great time to be a woman in sports.”

Bueckers signed an NIL deal with Unrivaled last year, giving her equity in the league, but didn’t play, instead finishing her college career with UConn, leading them to a national championship earlier this month.

Now the top pick in the draft, Dallas Wings fans are hoping she — along with guard Arike Ogunbowale — can lead them to their first championship since 2008, when the team was still the Detroit Shock, led by Katie Smith.
