Former UConn Huskies star and current Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers is still giving all her support to her alma mater and her former teammates. On Tuesday, Nov. 4, coach Geno Auriemma’s Huskies, now led by the likes of Bueckers’ girlfriend, veteran Azzi Fudd, opened their 2025-26 season against the Louisville Cardinals, as Bueckers was seen right behind her former team’s bench.
In the Hopkins, Minnesota, native’s Instagram stories, she uploaded a photo of her point of view for the game, which was just behind the current squad’s bench. Bueckers included a four-word caption to hype up Fudd and the rest of the 2025-26 Huskies. The Huskies program is bringing in the momentum from its 2025 NCAA championship berth.
“You know who I’m with @uconnwbb,” Bueckers captioned with a blue heart emoji.
Much to the delight of Bueckers and the rest of the UConn faithful, coach Auriemma‘s Huskies won against their first opponents of the year, as coach Jeff Walz’s Louisville Cardinals lost by 13 points, 79-66, in Alumni Hall at the Naval Academy, Maryland. This was also the first game of their non-conference schedule and was played as the Peraton Armed Forces Classic.
The team will continue its national championship defense, as the program hunts for its 13th national title, a record in the sport. Bueckers, Fudd, and the rest of the Huskies won last year’s NCAA championship by beating the 2024 national champions, the South Carolina Gamecocks, by 23 points, 82-59, in the NCAA title game.

Paige Bueckers Memes Herself For Wanting To Suit Up For The 2025-26 UConn Huskies
Along with posting where she was watching the 2025-26 UConn Huskies’ first game of the year on her Instagram story, Paige Bueckers uploaded a meme that joked about her still wanting to suit up for the squad. In the photo, a man is seen wearing an edited UConn jersey, with Azzi Fudd also edited in. The caption reads, “Bro thinks he’s on the team,” which Bueckers related to.
“me right now,” Bueckers wrote.
Bueckers just wrapped up her first stint in the WNBA in the 2025 campaign, wherein she took home this year’s Rookie of the Year award despite the Wings finishing with an overall record of 10-34 and missing postseason play.
