Grand Canyon University head coach Molly Miller is a winner. Ever since starting her head coaching career with the Great Lakes Valley Conference’s Drury Panthers, she’s done nothing but exceed expectations.
Miller led the Panthers to five straight NCAA Division II tournaments, making the Sweet 16 three times and a Final Four in her final full season. In a COVID-shortened 2020, the Panthers were 32-0 and on pace for greatness.
Miller took over a 15-12 Grand Canyon team, immediately pushing them to an 18-7 season and a third-place finish in the WAC in a shortened 2020-21 season. This year, she led the Antelopes to a 32-3 season and No. 13 seed in the women’s NCAA tournament before losing to No. 4 Baylor in the first round.
Now, after five years at GCU, Miller is headed to the Big 12, to take over the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Grand Canyon Head Coach Molly Miller’s Husband and Personal Life
Behind the scenes, Miller’s husband, Derek Miller, has been beside her side through it all.
“Life doesn’t get any better with Derek by my side. Every day, I feel so loved and taken care of! Love you, Mr. Miller,” Molly once shared.
Derek, who comes from Bowling Green, Ohio, has a background in football operations and recruiting, married Molly in Sept. 2012. The former Bowling Green football player has two kids with the GCU coach, a son, Cy, and daughter, Crosby. The duo was often seen at GCU practices.
Upon the birth of their second child, Molly joked the couple was now running a man-to-man defense.

“So now Derek and I are man-to-man. We’re no longer in the zone offense when we just had one. Two is a game-changer, really,” she said. “Crosby just loves [Cy] and he loves her. So it’s a good balance in terms of age.”
