LSU Tigers basketball star Aneesah Morrow is currently Division I’s active leader in career rebounds and ranks in the top five among active players in career scoring. But Morrow isn’t new to adversity. She appeared on her teammate Flau’Jae Johnson’s podcast, where she discussed growing up in Chicago.

Aneesah Morrow Overcame Tough Childhood Before LSU Stardom
In an interview on teammate Flau’jae Johnson’s podcast, “Best of Both Worlds,” which was posted on Instagram, Morrow recounted how her tough upbringing in the south side of Chicago motivated her to become the best she could be on the court.
“That day, I could have potentially lost my life, but I didn’t,” the senior forward said. “Growing up in the city on the south side, you see some things that you shouldn’t see as a young girl,” she said.
“I’ve been in crossfire before, seen people take their last breath. I was like nine, eight years old, just playing outside with my cousin,” she revealed. “Just being able to make it out of that and see my parents sacrifice so much—that’s why I go as hard as I do every day…God’s going to wake you up and give you another chance if there’s someone that he has in store for you.”

Aneesah Morrow Placed on Injury Report Ahead of Georgia Matchup
The No. 7 Tigers could be without Morrow Thursday night for the team’s clash against Georgia. Her name was listed as “questionable” on the Injury Report Wednesday night.
Morrow’s availability status might cause concern for the Lady Tigers, who are looking to bounce back from a disappointing loss to the Texas Longhorns on Sunday. The star forward averages 18.1 points per game and currently leads the nation with 14.4 rebounds per game and 22 double-doubles.
