Kim Mulkey‘s LSU program has created several big WNBA stars, and two of them clashed on Sunday as Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky took on former teammate Aneesah Morrow and the Connecticut Sun. Morrow and the Sun squeezed in with a 94-84 victory over Reese and the Sky, with Connecticut now getting its third straight win.
This clash between the two former LSU Tigers caught the attention of their former head coach, Kim Mulkey, who reacted to a post of two of her former players clashing against one another and doing well in the WNBA:
“Geaux Tigers!!! 💜💛🤍,” she wrote on X.

The two were only teammates for a year in LSU, during the 2023-2024 season, which was after Mulkey and Reese led the Tigers to an NCAA national championship. Reese soon left after her senior season and went to the WNBA, while Morrow went on to play her senior year with LSU before heading to the WNBA as part of the 2025 draft class, where she was picked No. 7 overall.
Morrow, whose contract value is $237,670, originally went to DePaul but transferred to LSU during her junior year. The same can be said for Reese, who was originally with the Maryland Terrapins but also transferred during her junior year, though that transfer led to the Tigers capturing the NCAA title that same season she transferred.
This was a clash between two of the lowest-ranked teams in the WNBA, with the Sky falling to 9-27 as they continued to struggle even though Angel Reese finally returned after dealing with some back injuries. Meanwhile, the Connecticut Sun rose to 9-27 as well and are in a surprising late-season winning streak.
Angel Reese Reveals Season Plans as Chicago Sky May Not Reach Playoffs
The season has now slipped away from what Angel Reese initially wanted as her injury troubles left her off games and having the Chicago Sky struggle as one of the worst teams in the league despite her constantly putting up monster numbers.
In an interview with Winsidr, the former LSU standout stated that she just plans to work hard in her last few games of the season.
“Just play hard as hell these last nine games,” she said. “Give it your all, everything you got. The game can be taken away from you at any time.”
The Sky only have nine games left in the season and it is already getting clear that they would be missing the playoffs after losing to what was the worst team in the league so far.
