Kim Mulkey’s LSU Tigers recently released its schedule for the 2025-26 season. Mulkey has a stacked season ahead of her that’ll feature 15 home and 12 away games. They’ll start the year with two exhibition games against Mississippi College and Langston.
The Tigers’ season opener will be on Nov. 4 against Houston Christian. Two days later, they’ll play Southeastern Louisiana. Analyst Quita of the “Quita In The Morning” podcast stated that it’s a very easy schedule for Mulkey and co.
She also noted that this has been a trend where teams look for easy matchups. Despite that, there’s one game that Quita believes could cause real trouble for Mulkey’s LSU.
“The one tough game I see in non-conference play is going to be on December the 4th, as LSU takes on Duke. I think that’s going to be a very, very fun game. That’s an ACC-SEC challenge game. That’s going to be very fun, very, very fun to see,” Quita said. (4:57)
In her opinion, LSU might end up winning the game because of their roster strength but it wouldn’t be a cakewalk for them as compared to some of their other matchups. The reason why Quita feels Duke will give LSU a tough time is because of their defense.
“Ultimately, I do think that LSU probably has the nod, but I tell you this, Duke is a very good defensive team, and we’ll see what happens.”
Quita outlined two more games on the schedule that’ll be worth looking forward to. LSU vs Texas on Jan. 11 and LSU vs South Carolina on Feb. 14, which will be a home game. So, there’s plenty to look forward to, especially given the talent that LSU possesses.
Kim Mulkey’s former player joins LSU’s coaching staff
While most of the headlines are occupied with the new players programs are bringing in, Kim Mulkey welcomed a former player back to LSU. Emily Ward, a part of the 2023 NCAA Championship-winning team, has joined the LSU coaching staff.
As announced earlier this month, Ward has joined LSU as their new director of women’s basketball operations. Mulkey was over the moon welcoming Ward back into the program. In an official statement posted on the LSU website, she said:
“I’m very excited to welcome Emily Ward back to LSU in her new role as our Director of Women’s Basketball Operations. Her experience as a national champion and as a team captain during her playing career will be instrumental in her new role.”

Mulkey stated that the LSU program is fortunate to have someone as talented as Ward back in the camp. She believes that Ward will be able to contribute immensely to the team’s success in the future, and as her coach, she’s looking forward to witnessing her journey.
