The 2025-26 LSU Tigers, coached by Kim Mulkey, just accomplished a record feat that hasn’t been done in over four decades by herself and her team when she was still a player. On Thursday, Nov. 20, it was reported by @espnw on X/Twitter that last time any women’s college hoops team won their first six games and tallied at least 100 points a game in the process, they went on to win the NCAA championship.
That team in discussion includes Mulkey and the then Louisiana Lady Techsters, who went on to win the inaugural women’s collegiate basketball national title in 1982, which was Mulkey’s second year in her college tenure. With this, as reported, the current Tigers roster has achieved this feat with their most recent performance, through which Mulkey has now clinched the record both as a player and as a head coach.

The Tigers currently hold an undefeated 6-0 overall record early in the 2025-26 campaign on their non-conference schedule, which puts them at the top of the SEC standings so far. They etched their name into history with the aforementioned record through their most recent victory on the same day the report came out, which is when they defeated the Alcorn State Lady Braves by a whopping 63 points, 112-49, on their home floor.
En route to the record, LSU opened their campaign with a 108-55 beatdown of the Houston Christian Huskies, followed by winning against the SE Louisiana Lady Lions by a staggering 91 markers, 115-26. The next three LSU victories will look similar with their outcomes, as they won over Georgia Southern, 118-70, then against Charlotte, 117-99 and most recently on Monday, Nov. 17, a 30-point drubbing of the Tulane Green Wave, 101-71.

Kim Mulkey And The 2025-26 LSU Tigers Are Pursuing Their Second National Title This Year
Apart from winning a national championship as a player with the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters, Kim Mulkey has also won the NCAA title as a coach with the LSU Tigers.
The team did this back in the 2022-23 season by beating the Iowa Hawkeyes by 17 points, 102-85, in that year’s national championship game. Since that was LSU’s first ever NCAA championship, Mulkey is looking to lead the program once again to that mountaintop.
