The UConn Huskies, led by the likes of veteran Azzi Fudd and sophomore Sarah Strong, just had a massive preseason win ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. On Sunday, Oct. 26, @uconnwbb on Instagram shared a photo of the members of the current Huskies roster celebrating on the sidelines during a preseason matchup against the Southern Connecticut State Owls.
Coach Geno Auriemma‘s team shut down the Owls by defeating them through a 66-point drubbing, 105-39, at the PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford, Connecticut. The victory is one of the driving factors towards the Huskies’ rising preparations for their upcoming 2025 national championship defense.

College basketball fans online are excited for what the upcoming season holds for the Huskies after their impressive preseason victory.
“Huskies coming for blood this season, ready for the ride!” one fan commented.

“They’re about to demolish these teams man 😭,” another fan wrote with a crying emoji.

“I mean I feel bad for them 😂😂,” a fan shared with a pair of laughing emojis.

Other users reacted to the lopsided score, which is indicative of the potential that the 2025-26 Huskies have.

Coach Auriemma’s Huskies are coming off winning their program its 12th national championship, a record in women’s college basketball history. They did this by beating the 2024 national champions, the South Carolina Gamecocks, by an astounding 23 points, 82-59, in the 2025 NCAA championship game. They finished the year with an overall record of 37-3 (18-0 Big East).

UConn Huskies Will Open Their 2025-26 Season Against The Louisville Cardinals
To kick off their 2025 national championship defense and vie for their program’s 13th national title in history, the UConn Huskies are set to open the 2025-26 campaign with a cross-conference matchup against coach Jeff Walz’s Louisville Cardinals.
The matchup is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 4, and will be played for the Armed Forces Classic in the Alumni Hall in Annapolis, Maryland.
