‘You Want To Be Caitlin Clark’: Fans React As Flau’jae Johnson Expresses Frustration Over LSU Potentially Honoring Charlie Kirk on Campus

Charlie Kirk has been a very divisive figure, even in death, as the controversial conservative activist, who was shot and killed in Utah earlier this year, has been proposed to receive a statue at LSU. The proposal was made by Louisiana governor Jeff Landry, and LSU basketball superstar Flau’jae Johnson is not having it.

The late far-right propagandist has been known for his controversial comments on race, gender and politics and has been criticized for his racist speech and white supremacist connections. The proposal from Landry quickly earned swift rebuke from many LSU students, including Johnson.

This has fans talking, with some slamming her, but a lot were defending her:

“Number one. It’s not YOUR campus, number 2 YOUR not a star, number 3 it’s not anyone’s fault that YOU’RE pissed because YOU’RE black and YOU want to be Caitlin Clark so bad YOU hate YOURSELF.” one “free speech” supporter said not wanting Johnson to practice her free speech.

“The nerve of you people! Who tf was Charlie Kirk that he should have a statue at LSU ? An absolute NOBODY. He doesn’t deserve it. Case closed. I don’t care who he was or what he represented. He DOESN’T DESERVE IT!!!” another Threads user said.

“Nah he just hid behind the “free speech” moniker to be hateful and awful towards his fellow human beings.” another person pointed out.

“LSU is never winning another SEC championship in anything ever again if they do this 🤣,” joked one X user, pointing out the move would turn off Black athletes.

“LSU gets mosts of its funding off the backs of African American athletes but sure let’s put up a statue honoring a racist…,” added another.

“Why are Colleges erecting statues to a College Dropout?,” pointed out another person.

Flau’jae Johnson Explains Her Stance On Proposed Charlie Kirk Statue

Following her post, she soon explained her stance in a statement:

“For the sake of clarity, if you align yourself with or endorse his racist rhetoric and discriminatory views toward people of color, I respectfully ask that you utilize the unfollow option at the top right of my profile,” she said.

She was referring to Kirk in that statement, stating that people who aligned with Kirk’s discriminatory views should just unfollow her, and she is not regretting losing them and had a simple reply:

Kirk has often targeted African Americans with his rhetoric, suggesting that Black pilots were unqualified and accused people of color of targeting white people. Kirk, a known agitator, often questioned the qualifications of Black women in particular, such as Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Jackson and former First Lady Michelle Obama.

As for Landry, the governor was at Baton Rouge for a Turning Point USA event, the very political organization founded by Kirk. So far, the school itself has declined to comment on Landry’s controversial proposal.
