LSU’s Flau’jae Johnson’s  Message After MiLaysia Fulwiley’s Transfer Announcement Shows Excitement, Approval

Immediately after the confirmation, Flau’jae tweeted: “With the butter🫡💛💜.” The “butter” term is one of Johnson’s trademarks; here, it insinuates that Fulwiley’s addition is smooth, easy, and a perfect fit for the LSU Tigers.

Johnson has never shied away from expressing herself online, and her update following the announcement of Fulwiley’s transfer was no less. The phrase, accompanied by an emoji salute and purple and gold heart emojis, signals both her approval of the move and her excitement about adding another dynamic player to an already impressive roster at LSU.

This is her direct message of support to Fulwiley, saying that the backcourt just got stronger.

Fulwiley was an outstanding player at South Carolina, averaging 11.8 points a game on limited minutes during her freshman year. Despite her being able to contribute to the team, Fulwiley spent long periods of her freshman year on the bench since the depth of the Gamecocks’ roster limited her role.

Adding Ta’Niya Latson to the roster only added to her problems in Columbia, thus prompting her search for alternate options via the portal.

The Louisiana State University would have her coming in as a starter, with an opportunity to blossom as a leader and focal point in Coach Kim Mulkey’s system. Thus, Fulwiley’s new move gives her room to advance her game in one of the most audible women’s basketball programs in the country.

    Johnson Commits to LSU

In the same breath as announcing Fulwiley’s move, Johnson also committed to another year at LSU, finally quashing speculation of a transfer or WNBA jump earlier than expected.

Johnson’s leadership and sheer personality have developed LSU into one of women’s basketball’s powerhouse programs, and her staying back with the Tigers alongside her immediate support for Fulwiley indicates her resolve in getting LSU back to the top.

On the court, Johnson will remain the crux of LSU’s offense, working with the younger girls while keeping an eye on the championship.
