“Somebody Investigate UConn Education” – Fans Troll Paige Bueckers As Former UConn Star Takes On Spelling Challenge

Former UConn Huskies star and now Dallas Wings rookie Paige Bueckers recently took on a challenge that had her following troll her afterwards. On Sunday, July 27, the Wings’ social media team uploaded a video of Bueckers, along with some of her current WNBA teammates, in a spelling challenge where they were paired up and had to spell out sophisticated words correctly against each other.

Bueckers, however, was not able to spell out any of the given words correctly as she had sporadic reactions to her mistakes. As she playfully reacted in disappointment towards her lapses, the video has since gone viral on X/Twitter. User @livelovepazzi uploaded it on the platform and has since gotten a plethora of reactions from the college basketball world.

“Now, this is the battle of education,” @livelovepazzi on X captioned.

College basketball fans and spectators then called on to the Huskies education system and joked about its credibility.

“Somebody investigate UConn education,” one user wrote with a broken heart emoji.

“This lowkey making me nervous. I’m trying to get into UConn,” another fan posted.

“Oh, UConn education,” another user pointed out with three crying emojis.

“Y’all do they still give spelling tests in school?,” a user questioned.

Several users on X, even her own faithful, then trolled Bueckers for her mistakes made in the spelling challenge.

“She got the looks, not the brains,” one fan claimed.

“Gonna need Paige to download some educational/spelling games on that iPad,” another user said with a couple of emojis.

“Paige and that dumb blonde allegation,” a user shared with a crying emoji.

Bueckers was not able to spell out words such as mischievous and orangutan, spelling them as “myschievious” and “orangutang” instead. The final world prompted to Bueckers was onomatopoeia, which she decided to not participate anymore. The Hopkins, Minnesota native was going against former Notre Dame Fighting Irish standout Arike Ogunbowale, who spelt mischievous correctly.

The other pair was former Baylor Bears forward DiJonai Carrington and South Carolina Gamecocks product Tyasha Harris, who also spelt the aforementioned words incorrectly. Coach Chris Koclanes’ Wings are currently sitting as the 12th seed in the WNBA with an overall record of 7-19 thus far.

Paige Bueckers is currently projected to take home the 2025 WNBA Rookie of the Year award

Per USA Today and several other outlets, Paige Bueckers is projected to be the top first-year player of the 2025 WNBA season and take home this year’s Rookie of the Year award. This is because she is leading all rookies in points, assists and steals averages with 18.1, 5.6 and 1.8, respectively, to go along with 3.9 rebounds per game. Bueckers also notably dropped a career-high of 35 points against the Phoenix Mercury back on June 11.
