‘Strong Odds To Win’ – Fans React to Dream Scenario of Azzi Fudd Joining Dallas to Play With Paige Bueckers

After winning the national championship last season, UConn Huskies guard Paige Bueckers was picked first overall by the Dallas Wings in the 2025 WNBA draft. Azzi Fudd, who also played a big role in helping UConn win the championship, is expected to enter the draft next year.

While the college basketball season is far from its start date, NCAAW posted an interesting query on Reddit asking if Fudd will join the Wings through the 2026 WNBA draft.

What are the chances Azzi Fudd go to the Dallas Wings?

Fans poured in their thoughts, with some believing that the Wings have strong odds to win the lottery, allowing them to win the No. 1 pick to potentially draft Fudd.

“Very high. Wings have strong odds to win draft lottery again. If they do, they are trading Arike( might do that regardless) and drafting Azzi 1st. It will form a dynamic 3 of PB, Fudd and James. All 3 are 3 level scorers that can can pass, shoot and defend,” one fan wrote.

One fan cut straight to the point: “A lot depends on what draft pick the Wings end up getting.”

Another echoed the sentiment: “They will have to have a top 3ish pick to get Fudd, which is reasonably likely. Their record over the last two years is poor enough that they will probably miss the playoffs and be in the lottery.”

Still, the randomness of the lottery looms large.

One fan noted: “Some of the teams at the bottom don’t even own their first-round picks next year,” meaning the Wings might benefit from how draft rights shift around.

Some questioned whether Fudd will be a right fit for Dallas.

One user threw cold water on the hype, and alleged that UCLA’s Lauren Betts will be a better option:

“Betts is a far better fit than Fudd is. Honestly I rarely thought Fudd/Bueckers looked good playing together when they were at UCONN. Their off court story is very cute (wink wink) but on the court it was rare that we saw both thrive together. I’d probably trade the pick if it’s top but not 1 since they’re pretty set in the backcourt with Paige/Arike/James. Front court is where they need help.”

“Dallas is pretty set in the backcourt with Paige/Arike/James,” one fan said. “Front court is where they need help.”

“If Dallas were to get the 1 pick, they’d probably draft Fudd and trade Arike for a veteran big,” one fan suggested.

But that scenario was quickly challenged by another user, who reminded the thread: “Arike is a free agent.”

Chances of Dallas Wings Picking Azzi Fudd in 2026 WNBA Draft

The Wings are clearly in the middle of a rebuild, thus they are prioritizing draft assets. The 2026 WNBA draft class is headlined by talents like Lauren Betts, Olivia Miles and Azzi Fudd, widely viewed as top-3 selections.

Dallas already boasts elite guards in the form of Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale; thus, they may prioritize drafting for the frontcourt. In that case, Fudd no longer remains a good option.

Even if the franchise wants to draft Fudd, they must land among the top-3 selections to stand a chance to draft Fudd.

All in all, the bottom line is that if Dallas wins the #1 overall pick, they will likely take Lauren Betts. With the #2 pick, Fudd becomes a realistic option, though, given the Wings believe in her potential fit. At #3 or later, it’s unlikely Dallas will be able to select Fudd.
