UConn’s got magic back in March, and her name is Paige Bueckers. The guard has been on a mission this NCAA Tournament. She has averaged 26.4 points with a 40-point game against Oklahoma in the Sweet 16. Bueckers’ season numbers speak for themselves, with 20 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 2.2 steals per game.
As if that wasn’t enough, Bueckers also shoots 53.9% from the floor and 42.4% from deep. She has all the stats she needs, but one thing is missing from her resume—a national title. It is safe to say that her stats don’t need it. However, there is one question that hoop fans are wondering about.

Will Paige Bueckers Have Another Collegiate Season?
Well, the answer is yes. Paige Bueckers has another season of college basketball left in her. And that is all thanks to the NCAA’s COVID-19 eligibility rules. Before the Huskies fandom gets their hope up, Bueckers has made it clear that she will not be staying.
The final against the South Carolina Gamecocks will be the last time that Paige Bueckers will be donning her UConn jersey. It was in 2020 that Bueckers started her collegiate journey. And by 2021, she was the national player of the year and was on her way to an All-American status. But then came the unfortunate moments.
Paige Bueckers had a period of injuries in her second year. She missed all of her junior season with a torn ACL. Yet, she returned with 30-point bombs this March like she never left. But as much as fans dreamt of a “last year, best year” encore, Bueckers is not staying any longer.
The WNBA Draft is calling, and she’s answering. On April 14, Paige Bueckers will be looking at getting drafted at the 2025 WNBA draft. She is also projected as the No. 1 overall pick. But there might be some twists here, too.
There have been talks that Bueckers might avoid the Dallas Wings, who hold the top pick. Reports even linked her to a preference for Los Angeles and the Sparks. But Bueckers has not come out and said anything just yet.
Paige Bueckers is calm as ever. And it’s all thanks to the legendary UConn run she has had. With 2,422 career points heading into the championship game, she trails only Maya Moore and Breanna Stewart on the all-time scoring list. Bueckers has also hit the 1,000-point mark in just 55 games and become the fastest Husky ever to reach 2,000.
Apart from the elusive national title, her resume is the complete package. In 2022, she got close to winning a title, but Dawn Staley’s South Carolina squad took down the Huskies in the final moments. Now, it’s a full-circle moment for Paige Bueckers.
One last shot. One last game. One last chance to go out on top.
