Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark was amongst the 2025 WNBA All-Stars that participated in the equal pay movement in this year’s annual exhibition. During the WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday, July 19, Clark and other stars donned black shirts during warmups that read, “Pay us what you owe us,” as they were allegedly not satisfied with the progression made during a recent meeting with the league’s officials regarding CBA negotiations.
On Monday, July 21, during the most recent episode of “The Herd” show, sports analyst Colin Cowherd addressed the issue and particularly focused on how the WNBA should be treating stars, such as Clark, with more respect. With this, he even praised Clark with many claims, such as being the league’s golden goose due to the impact Cowherd says that the former Iowa Hawkeye has brought with her.
“ Not every company that wins in negotiations or is sold is wildly profitable, but the projection for the WNBA going forward and the current momentum are really, really good. So the t-shirts don’t bother me, but why do you take a shot at the Golden Goose, Caitlin Clark? You guys were flying before she arrived on one of those airlines that made you pay for a cup of water. One of those airlines that is the planes are the color of a highlighter,” Cowherd said. (1:23)

Cowherd then compared Clark to six-time NBA champion Michael Jordan, discussing about how Jordan was injured in his second year in the NBA similarly to Clark currently. He then asserted that this injury bug is merely a bump in Clark’s eventual road to greatness and therefore, bringing in more success for the WNBA as a whole.
“ I mean, this year she’s not playing well. She’s hurt. She’s not there for all the games. So, this is actually not as great as it could be. Like Michael Jordan, hurt year two, next 12 years were legendary. That’s what it’s gonna be. So, I think they deserve a big raise, maybe not 50% of revenues because NBA stars, there’s a lot of them, and they move the needle. The WNBA stars, well, there’s one that moves the needle,” Cowherd explained. (3:03)
Colin Cowherd Says That If It Were Up To Him, He’d Go All In On The Rising WNBA Stars
Also during his most recent episode of The Herd, Colin Cowherd gave his take on the whole situation about how the WNBA is making money nowadays instead of the profits they were reportedly losing previously. With the budding star power of a player like Clark, Cowherd says that he would’ve continued going all in with investing into the league if it were up to him.
“ If I made an investment for five years and it lost money and I got about six months left in the investment and in the last six months they started, they started making cash, I’m not bailing on the investment. I wanna finally get my money back,” Cowherd shared. (0:25)
Clark is currently in her sophomore year with coach Stephanie White’s Indiana Fever, where she has averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 8.8 assists and 1.6 steals a game thus far through 13 contests played.
