UConn Huskies guard Ashlynn Shade celebrated a big milestone during this college basketball offseason. On Monday, Aug. 18, Shade uploaded a carousel post on her Instagram that includes photos from when she celebrated her 21st birthday on July 13, and it shows her doing a lot of different activities as she rejoiced with family and friends.
Some of the activities that Shade was captured doing for her birthday bash include putting on cowgirl outfits, going out at night with her loved ones, sightseeing, partying, going to a museum, mechanical bull-riding and much more, as the candid snaps she shared on social media showed. With this, several from the Huskies faithful, including her current and former teammates, such as Morgan Cheli and Kaitlyn Chen, reacted.

Cheli, Chen and many other Huskies then dropped comments, expressing how much they love Shade’s upload of her birthday celebration.
“Love this,” Cheli commented with an emoji.
“Awwww,” Cheli said in another comment.
“Yeehaw Ashlynn Shade,” Chen shared.
“Yeehawww,” incoming sophomore stalwart Jana El-Alfy posted.
“Ash,” now junior forward Ice Brady wrote with a couple of tongue-out emojis.
“Yourrrr cityyy,” second-year guard Allie Ziebell wrote.
For now, Shade, Cheli and the rest of the current crop of Huskies are basking in the glory of their 2025 national championship run when they defeated the 2024 national champions, the South Carolina Gamecocks, by 23 points, 82-59. They finished the 2024-25 season with an overall record of 37-3 (18-0 Big East), along with winning both the conference regular season championship and conference tournament title.
The same can be said for Chen but instead of her being a part of the 2025-26 Huskies roster, she has taken her talents to the WNBA and is currently in her rookie year with the Golden State Valkyries.

Along with Morgan Cheli dropping comments on Ashlynn Shade’s most recent Instagram post, she also reposted a couple of Instagram uploads on her stories in support of Shade and Kaitlyn Chen.
Cheli’s first upload includes a tunnel outfit photo of Chen as she was entering a Golden State Valkyries game, posted by the WNBA franchise’s social media team, while reposting Shade’s photo of her riding a mechanical bull.
