Los Angeles Sparks superstar Cameron Brink isn’t into the team’s male practice player tryouts.
On her podcast, “Straight to Cam,” with co-host Sydel Curry-Lee, Brink expressed her disdain for people who made lewd remarks about the team’s players in the comments of the Sparks’ post announcing the tryouts.

“Usually we use like USC college guys, that also like do it for the women’s team at USC,” she began. “And all the comments are like ‘let Cameron Brink back me down’ like or something about Rickea [Jackson] or something about Kelsey [Plum], and now I’m just like ‘preferably they’re gay!’”
“Who are we trusting coming into this gym?” Brink continued. “I’m not boxing anyone out. Lynne [Roberts], our new coach, is gonna be screaming at me for not rebounding, but I’m not boxing out anyone!”
“They need to go through heavy HR training,” Curry-Lee said.
Brink—who won an NCAA championship in 2021 with the Stanford Cardinal—averaged 7.5 points per game in 22 minutes for the Sparks last season after being picked No. 2 overall.
On June 18, Brink exited a game against the Connecticut Sun in the first quarter after suffering an ACL tear, ending her season. The Spark, who started the season 4-11 with Brink, finished the season 4-21 without her. Their 8-32 record was the worst in the league, one game behind the 9-31 Dallas Wings.

On Dec. 17, Brink signed a multiyear deal with the Lunar Owls for the inaugural 2025 season of Unrivaled, a women’s 3-on-3 basketball league, but will not appear until 2026 due to her injury.
The Sparks, who have the ninth pick in the upcoming WNBA Draft, should have Brink back for most of her second pro season.
