Caitlin Clark-Paige Bueckers’ Trade Possibility Might Shake Up the WNBA Draft After Dallas Wings’ Lottery Win

Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers are the two biggest stars in the WNBA. Both players broke multiple records in their college careers. Bueckers led UConn to its 12th national title in her final year and was one of the best players in college. On the other hand, Clark did not win the national championship, but she broke countless records, including all-time leading scorer, all-time three-pointers, most 30-point games, and many more.

Clark was by far the best rookie in the league when she joined the Indiana Fever in 2024. Similarly, Bueckers was like a silver lining in the Wings’ forgettable season this year. She also won the Rookie of the Year award, just like Clark. While Clark’s arrival brought exponential growth in WNBA viewership, Bueckers’ joining the Dallas Wings also increased their fan base.

Despite Paige’s individually successful season, the Wings finished last in the league. With some luck, the Wings have once again secured the No. 1 draft pick in the WNBA lottery. However, there have been rumors about what this means for her future in Dallas.

On Sunday, Nov. 23, WNBA insider Drake wrote on X:

“Curt Miller said he’s already received more calls about potential trades for the #1 pick in the upcoming draft than he did in the leadup to the 2025 draft.”

This certainly means that Dallas Wings GM Curt Miller is open to the idea of trading the No. 1 pick.

“The Cailtin Clark draft, there was not going to be a trade, Paige [Bueckers] was not going to be traded, but it will be interesting, and it makes our job fun to listen to those phone calls that come in for the #1 pick. And we’ll do what’s best for our franchise,” Miller said.

Fans React to Curt Miller’s Words

Fans online had divided opinions on Paige Bueckers’ uncertain future at the Dallas Wings.

“Seattle don’t stop calling this man until he picks up and if he blocks you, call from another number,” one fan joked.

“Dallas need to trade it to the sky and Arike for Angel Reese and their 1st,” one fan offered an interesting solution.

“He better not give that sh*t away to nobody. Idgaf who they willing to give up! We need that #1 pick more than anybody,” another fan expressed worry.

“He’d be out of his mind if he even thinks of taking a trade for this pick,” another commented.

“I bet Mystics were the first to call, not even kidding. Move from 4 to 1 and give Dallas 9 and 11? Could be worth thinking about,” one fan said.
