Angel Reese Clears The Air On Viral ‘Clout Chasing’ Remark Against Phillies Broadcaster John Kruk

Philadelphia Phillies broadcaster John Kruk took a swipe at WNBA star Angel Reese over “Mebounds,” with Reese allegedly firing back and saying that Kruk was “clout chasing.” Reese, often the target of fake news, clapped back at Sports Illustrated, which alleges that she said he was after clout.

“are yall slow?” she commented on Instagram. “what are you talking about. i don’t even know who this is…”

During the Chicago White Sox vs. Philadelphia Phillies game, Kruk reportedly blasted Reese over grabbing her own rebounds from her missed shots, which she calls “Mebounds.” Reese had been accused of filling her stats sheets because of this, and this was what Kruk talked about during the White Sox vs. Phillies broadcast.

“I don’t want to say anything, but there’s someone here in Chicago who does that a lot,” he said.

However, Kruk admitted that he was aware that he could get some clapback and also defended Reese a bit later. This came after broadcast partner Tom McCarthy defended Reese and pointed out that Reese has also been a scoring machine for the Chicago Sky, and not just a rebounder. This was what Kruk said after:

“She gets her rebounds, too,” Kruk admitted. “We’ll be getting some tweets about that, I’m sure.”

Despite being one of the most criticized players out there, Angel Reese has a lot of support in Chicago and her hometown of Baltimore, as well as Baton Rouge. This resulted in a blowback from fans.

As for Reese’s reply to Kruk, who she said she did not know, here is what she said:

“Clout is one helluva DRUG. like it really gets to a point,” she tweeted.

Angel Reese Talks About Back Injuries and Playing While Hurt

Meanwhile, Angel Reese is actually on the shelf as she has suffered a back injury that forced her to miss some games and play hurt in some. The Chicago Sky have struggled even more since Reese was injured, missing not just a vital paint presence, but also one of their best scorers. She talked about it during a post-game interview.

“When I am out there, I don’t think about an injury. It can happen anyway, anytime. If I’m thinking about it too much, it’s gonna happen again,” Reese noted. “So, just trying to fight through contact as much as I can and do whatever I can for the team.”

Reese had been a double-double machine for the Sky, though her individual statistics have mostly not converted to wins as Chicago struggled this season, with or without her.
