Even though Chicago Sky power forward Angel Reese does not play for her anymore, LSU head coach Kim Mulkey still has a big soft spot for her. Mulkey helped guide Reece to an NCAA national title in 2023, beating rival Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes in the national championship game.
Mulkey has failed to win the NCAA title since Reese left, and it is clear the Tigers head coach is still proud of her former player as she shines in the WNBA with yet another dominant performance for the Sky. The coaching legend took to her Instagram Stories to repost about yet another Angel Reese double-double performance.
Mulkey tagged Reese in her post, with the Tigers coach hyping up her former star player with three heart emojis.
The game took place in LA as the Sky took on the LA Sparks on the road. Reese played spoiler to two-time WNBA MVP Candace Parker’s jersey retirement ceremony as she led Chicago to a 92-85 win over the Sparks with 24 points and 16 rebounds, with seven assists. This was her fourth double-double in a row and sets a new WNBA record as this is also her fourth straight game with 15 or more rebounds.
“I always say to myself before every game, ‘God doesn’t give me any storm that I can’t handle,'” Reese spoke with ESPN after the game. “The first eight games, I played terrible, and I wasn’t coming up for my team. So I tried to find other ways to come up for my team. I had seven assists [today], and that’s the thing that matters to me: Getting the ball to my teammates ’cause I know they can hit shots, and they did that tonight.”
Kim Mulkey Spotted in Baton Rouge Serving Jury Duty
Meanwhile, as she was busy enjoying her off time, watching WNBA games live and traveling the country to check out high school recruits during the AAU season, Kim Mulkey has hit the snag as she had to do her civic duty. Even national championship-winning coaches are not exempt from jury duty, and she was spotted doing just that in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
On June 23, the coaching legend was spotted inside the 19th Judicial District Courthouse in downtown Baton Rouge to answer the court’s summons for jury duty, sitting in a pool of potential jurors awaiting jury selection on Monday morning. She was yet to be assigned to a specific case, however.
Despite this, Mulkey had been very busy during the offseason with practices with her new-look LSU Tigers, meeting with former players now in the WNBA, and watching AAU games.
