Las Vegas Aces superstar A’ja Wilson has responded to the recent viral joke that her boyfriend made on social media. On Tuesday, Oct. 14, Wilson, along with her teammates from coach Becky Hammon’s Aces, was featured in a guest interview on the show, “Good Morning America”, where the 2025 WNBA Finals MVP’s newest hairstyle was displayed publicly, which was a bob cut look with brunette highlights.
With this, Wilson’s boyfriend in Miami Heat All-Star Bam Adebayo took it to his Threads account to troll Wilson for her new hairstyle. Adebayo, who seemingly just made an account on the social media platform to play a joke at Wilson, posted a singular photo from a 90s R&B music video that is meant to be reminiscent of Wilson’s new hairdo.

Wilson then responded to the photo that Adebayo uploaded on her own Threads account, claiming that many were calling her on to check out the platform only to be trolled for her hairstyle.
“Hyping me up last night to come on this app to troll is crazy work 😂😂😂😂😂,” Wilson wrote with several laughing emojis.

Wilson also reposted and replied to an Ai video generated by a fan on Threads as well, that shows Wilson in her new haircut crying as she hugs the Aces’ 2025 WNBA championship.

Perhaps Wilson’s new hairstyle is her way of commencing the 2025 offseason right after she and her Las Vegas teammates clinched their franchise’s third title in just four years. Much to the delight of Adebayo and the rest of the Aces faithful, Wilson and Co. swept coach Nate Tibbet’s Phoenix Mercury, 4-0, in this year’s finals to win the 2025 WNBA championship.
After being crowned as the regular season MVP and co-Defensive Player of the Year awardee, Wilson was subsequently named as the 2025 finals MVP in what has become a historic season for the former South Carolina Gamecock. She will enter her ninth campaign in the league in the 2026 season.

Apart from her partner in Bam Adebayo, A’ja Wilson’s teammate, veteran guard Jewel Loyd, also used the same photo that Adebayo posted to troll Wilson. On the same day on her Instagram stories, Loyd uploaded the 90s R&B music video screenshot while tagging Wilson’s Instagram account. The 29-year-old then reposted the former Norte Dame Fighting Irish standout’s upload on her own story.
