Arch Manning has long been the center of college football buzz, and with good reason. The Texas Longhorns quarterback, nephew of NFL legends Peyton and Eli Manning, enters the 2025 season with massive expectations.
Despite his immense potential and a $6.6 million NIL valuation, a recent ESPN analysis left Manning just outside the top 10 quarterbacks entering the season. However, the analyst made it clear: Arch Manning is looking for an outstanding career in Austin.

ESPN Analyst Justifies Keeping Arch Manning out of the Top 10 QBs
The ESPN analyst praised Manning’s pedigree, development under head coach Steve Sarkisian, and flashes of brilliance in limited action last season.
“I love Arch Manning’s skill set, I love his pedigree, I love the tape from last year,” the analyst shared.
Although Manning only made a few appearances, including a standout performance against UTSA where he threw for 223 yards and four touchdowns, the groundwork for success is undeniable.
One of the key reasons Manning was left out of the top 10 is simple: experience. The analyst emphasized that it is difficult to rank a first-year starter above quarterbacks who have already proven themselves when the pressure is on.
While Manning did log some impressive stats, completing over 67% of his passes with nine touchdowns and just two interceptions, most of his production came against defenses ranked in the lower half nationally, such as UTSA, Louisiana Monroe, and Mississippi State.
That said, the ESPN expert quickly noted that Manning’s honorable mention status is still a significant endorsement. Being on the radar at all speaks volumes for a quarterback who has started just a handful of games.
“When he elevates his play against quality competition, that’s when we’ll really make the evaluation,” the analyst explained.
Manning’s early career has already shown glimpses of greatness. In the 2024 season opener against Colorado State, Manning completed 5-of-6 passes for 95 yards and a touchdown and added a rushing score, demonstrating his dual-threat ability.
When called upon later in the season due to Quinn Ewers’ injury, he seamlessly stepped in and delivered a five-touchdown performance, showcasing composure and explosive playmaking.
Adding to the optimism is the environment surrounding Manning. With Steve Sarkisian’s SEC experience guiding him and a bolstered roster around him, many believe the Longhorns are set up for a deep championship run.
Andy Staples even credited Manning’s ascension to the start as a key reason that Texas could be a national title contender this year.

In short, while Manning may not have cracked ESPN’s preseason top 10, the belief in his future remains sky-high. With his natural talent, strong development system, and the opportunity to prove himself against top-tier competition, Manning is expected to not just shine but potentially etch his name into Texas football history.
The future in Austin is bright, and Manning is ready to lead the way.
