The marching band of Alabama is known as the Million Dollar Band and is one of the biggest bands in the sport. It is possibly one of the most famous bands in the country. The Million Dollar Band was formed in 1912 and has grown into one of the most celebrated in the US.
Originally formed as a military band, the Million Dollar Band has an interesting history and a special way of finding their name. It wasn’t until the 1920s that the band started being called the Million Dollar Band after a difficult trip to Georgia Tech.
The band plays plenty of fan favorites, such as Tusk, Basket Case, and Rammer Jammer Cheer. However, they most famously play Alabama’s fight song Yea, Alabama! which is one of the most recognizable traditions in college football.
Michigan’s marching band is equal to Alabama’s in size. It should make for a great atmosphere in the stadium at halftime. The Michigan Marching Band is also one of the oldest in the nation, with their first performance dating back to 1897. Some even suggest their history could go as far back as 1844, but the evidence of this is sketchy.
This won’t be the first appearance in the Rose Bowl for The Michigan Marching Band, who traveled with the team to California to be at the stadium in 1948.
The history of Michigan’s marching band runs deep, as they were the first band to play at a Super Bowl when they performed in Super Bowl VII. They were followed by the University of Texas’ band a year later. The band has also played for the Detroit Lions during NFL games.
