Ty Simpson Family: A Look Into the Personal Life of Alabama’s QB

Ty Simpson steps into the spotlight today as Alabama prepares for its first-round College Football Playoff matchup against Oklahoma. Long before Simpson became Alabama’s QB, football was already a constant in his life.

Growing up in a coaching household gave him daily exposure to the game, structure, and expectations that come with it. That background continues to influence how he approaches the position at the sport’s highest college level.

    Ty Simpson’s Father: Jason Simpson

Ty’s father, Jason Simpson, is a well-established figure in college football. He has served as the head coach at UT Martin since 2006, building one of the most stable programs at the FCS level. Before coaching, Jason played quarterback at Mississippi State.

Jason’s football roots were instrumental in Ty’s love for the game from a very young age. While he has been busy with his own commitments to attend his son’s games, he manages to show up for Ty whenever he can.

When he attended Alabama’s game against Tennessee, which the Crimson Tide won 37-20, Ty was touched. Jason had coached a game in North Carolina earlier that day and still managed to be there for his son.

“I’m going to try not to get emotional, but it meant a lot,” Ty SAID after the game. “He literally coached a game at 12:30 in North Carolina. Then made an effort to come to my game and be with my family. He means the world to me.”

Ty said that his father is his best friend, and it means so much to him when he does something so special despite the scheduling challenges he faces.

    Ty Simpson’s Mother: Julie Simpson

Julie Simpson has been a steady presence throughout Ty’s football journey. While not involved in coaching, she has played a central role in managing the balance that comes with a football-first household.

Since Jason can’t be there for Ty’s every game, Julie is frequently spotted in the stands. She has talked about how the Simpson family juggles different schedules while ensuring they show up for their loved ones.

“It’s not easy,” Julie said, as per WPSD. “But I would not have it any other way. The only thing I would change is if Ty could play during the day, and the Skyhawks at night.”

With her husband leading a program of his own and her son progressing through elite levels of the sport, coordination and structure have become a big part of the Simpson household.

    Ty Simpson’s Siblings

Ty has two siblings who are also connected to athletics. His younger brother, Graham Simpson, is a quarterback prospect himself and has followed a similar early path. His sister, Emma Simpson, played basketball in high school.

The Simpsons lead a very hectic but equally balanced life, and it’s only achieved through their commitment to each other.
