“Trinidad Chambliss Doesn’t Need Lane Kiffin”: Skip Bayless Makes Blunt Admission As Ole Miss QB’s Heroics Put Kirby Smart On Notice

Despite the exit of Lane Kiffin as head coach, the Ole Miss Rebels stunned Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs to win the College Football Playoff quarterfinal on Thursday. Ole Miss quarterback played a big role in the 39-34 win, as he completed 30 of 46 passes for 362 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 14 yards on four carries.

Chambliss’ massive game drew a sarcastic comment by analyst Skip Bayless against Kiffin. He wrote:

“Chambliss doesn’t need Lane Kiffin to call the plays HE keeps making.”

The Rebels are being coached by Pete Golding, who was previously the defensive coordinator of the program under Kiffin.

Chambliss conducted most of his offense through the air only. His biggest receiver was Harrison Wallace III, who caught nine receptions for 156 yards and one touchdown. De’Zhaun Stribling also covered triple-digit yards, catching seven receptions for 122 yards. Running back Kewan Lacy was another hero on the offense, as he covered 98 yards on the ground for two scores on 22 carries.

With the win, the Rebels have entered the College Football Playoff semifinal and will face the Miami Hurricanes in the Fiesta Bowl. The Canes themselves stunned defending champions Ohio State Buckeyes, to reach here.

Trinidad Chambliss Gives Insight Into Lockerroom Mindset Despite Lane Kiffin Leaving

Following the rivalry game against Mississippi State, Lane Kiffin announced that he is leaving Ole Miss to take the position with the LSU Tigers. While he wanted to remain as the team’s head coach for the College Football Playoff, the program didn’t allow.

After the win against the Bulldogs, Trinidad Chambliss offered an insight into the mindset of the locker room, which had to experience their head coach leaving them just before the playoffs.

“Yeah, just our grit,” Chambliss said. “We just want to win, we just want to play football and have fun with our brothers. Since fall camp, this has been our goal. Get to the College Football Playoff and hopefully get to the National Championship.”

Not many people counted Ole Miss as a contender for the national championship game. But here we are, where they are just one win from entering the biggest game of the season.
