Spring portal season is here, and there’s already some major movement with Rickey Gibson entering the transfer portal. Gibson was a starting cornerback for the Tennessee Volunteers last season and will have three years of eligibility remaining.
There will be plenty of teams looking to acquire Gibson’s talents, so read on to find up which five schools make the most sense for Gibson to land at.

5 Transfer Portal Landing Spots for Rickey Gibson
1) Arkansas Razorbacks
Gibson was a three-star recruit out of high school but only went on two official visits before committing to Tennessee: one to Knoxville and the other to Arkansas.
Gibson showed the world last season that he can play at a high level with an SEC program, so it would only make sense for the Razorbacks to be interested in him once again.
2) Auburn Tigers
It’s no secret how much Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze likes to recruit from the portal, and with Gibson being a Huntsville native, it would make a lot of sense for him to want to return to his home state. Gibson had an offer from Auburn out of high school, and I imagine Hugh Freeze will offer him again ASAP.
3) Tennessee Volunteers
What? I thought he was leaving from Tennessee!? As of right now, yes, Gibson is planning on entering the portal. However, this could very well be a way for Gibson to get the biggest payday out of the Vols.

If Tennessee decides that the young corner is too valuable to lose, they could pay him what he wants, and Gibson could very well withdraw his name from the portal.
4) Florida State Seminoles
There is an immense amount of pressure on the shoulders of Mike Norvell to have a successful season with the Seminoles this season, so bringing in a star like Gibson would help him sure up FSU’s defense.
Not to mention Florida State lost two starting corners to the NFL Draft, so there’s even more reason to bring Gibson to Tallahassee
5) Oregon Ducks
The Oregon Ducks have Phil Knight, the Nike CEO, funding their NIL, which is another way of saying they have unlimited money. If Lanning decides that Gibson is a player that he wants to acquire, the offer that they’d make Gibson would likely be one of the highest.

Lanning also previously offered Gibson out of high school, so the two have been in contact in the past, making this fit even more attractive.
