SMU Players To Miss the Fenway Bowl

SMU, the defending AAC Champions, saw a fair share of their defensive depth pieces opt to hit the portal following the season. But unlike many other teams in their position at the Group of Five level, their roster remains relatively intact.

Of their opt-outs to the portal, only Jacob Waller and Dylan Frazier played in more than a single game this past season. None of the players missing from SMU’s roster played meaningful snaps.

Though they’ll be without QB Preston Stone due to an injury, they were still able to knock off Tulane in the AAC Championship with Kevin Jennings at the helm.

Boston College Players To Miss the Fenway Bowl

Boston College is in a similar position to some of their ACC counterparts. Last season’s starting quarterback, Emmett Morehead, hit the portal but only played sparingly this past season.

Patrick Garwo played a major role in the team’s success over the past few seasons but was limited to just five appearances this past season. The remaining trio of running backs to hit the portal only had 23 total carries between them this season.

Jaden Williams hit the portal after hauling in over 180 yards and a touchdown this season, presenting a loss to overcome as the fourth receiver for Thomas Castellanos, but the offensive losses were minimal at best.

BC’s biggest loss is set to be defensive end Shitta Sillah, who played eight games this past season. Sillah, a longtime BC standout, saw his production limited and is looking for a career resurgence in 2024 with another school.
