All eyes will be on Bill Belichick at ACC Media Days as he is set to participate in the showpiece event for the first time since becoming UNC’s head coach. Here are the top five questions the legendary coach must face in the media briefing.

What are the Top 5 Questions Bill Belichick Faces Ahead of ACC Media Days?
1. Who Will Be North Carolina’s Starting Quarterback in Week 1?
Many assumed Gio Lopez would be North Carolina’s QB1 when Bill Belichick signed him through the transfer portal last spring. However, Belichick didn’t commit to Lopez being his Week 1 starter when he faced the media this summer, telling reporters that senior Max Johnson and freshman Bryce Baker were also options at quarterback.
With the ACC season fast approaching, it would be interesting to find out Belichick’s quarterback plans for Week 1. The North Carolina Tar Heels will face the TCU Horned Frogs in their season opener on Sept. 1.
2. How Does Gio Lopez Compare to Some of Belichick’s NFL Quarterbacks Before?
Bill Belichick has coached some of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, including Tom Brady and Drew Bledsoe during his time at New England. With Gio Lopez also facing reporters at ACC Media Days, it would be fascinating to hear Belichick’s thoughts about his new quarterback at UNC and how he compares to his previous signal-callers in the NFL.

Belichick added Lopez to his roster after he impressed in his freshman year at South Alabama. He completed 206-of-312 passes for 2,559 yards and 18 touchdowns with five interceptions last season, helping the Jaguars finish the 2024 campaign with a 7-6 overall record.
3. Has Belichick Adjusted to Coaching in the NCAA?
There is no questioning the fact that Bill Belichick is one of the greatest coaches in American football history. He has won eight Super Bowl titles in his legendary career, six of which came when he was the head coach at New England.
Belichick achieved those feats in the NFL with grown men, though. Conquering the NCAA is a whole different challenge for the 73-year-old as he will now be coaching mostly teen student-athletes. The veteran coach has already seen his new players in practice, and it will be interesting to hear his thoughts about his recent interactions with them and how they differ from his previous routines in the NFL.
4. Why Should Recruits Choose North Carolina As Their Next Team?
It has been 45 years since North Carolina last won a conference championship in the ACC. It is important for the Tar Heels to bolster their player recruitment for them to keep up with powerhouse teams such as Clemson, Florida State and Miami.
Handling recruiting duties in college is a different task for Belichick, who previously spent his entire coaching career in the NFL. Addressing his recruiting plans for the Tar Heels on media day will help UNC in establishing itself as a premier destination for top high school prospects and college transfers in the future.
5. What Is Jordon Hudson’s Involvement With UNC’s Football Program?
The head coaching job at UNC isn’t the only thing keeping Belichick busy nowadays. He grabbed the headlines when he started dating 24-year-old Jordon Hudson, with the couple going public with their relationship in June 2024.
Hudson being part of UNC’s operations was leaked to the public in March when “The Assembly” obtained emails showing Belichick asking staff to copy his girlfriend on every email sent to him.
Pablo Torre then added fuel to the fire when he reported that Hudson had been banned from UNC’s football facilities in May. The Tar Heels denied Torre’s report, saying in a statement released on May 9 that “while Jordon Hudson is not an employee at the University or Carolina Athletics, she is welcome to the Carolina Football facilities.”
It will be fascinating to hear Belichick’s own words about the issue and Hudson’s role with the Tar Heels at ACC Media Days.
