Serena Williams’ Husband Alexis Ohanian Fires Back At Haters Over Attacks On $300M American’s Complexion

Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, is a staunch defender of his family. He proved his love for the tennis great and their daughters once again recently, giving a befitting reply to the online trolls who have been accusing the 23-time Grand Slam champion of skin bleaching in recent years.

Recently, Williams posted a couple of happy family photographs from her sister Venus Williams’ wedding to Italian model/actor Andrea Preti, where she could be seen sharing a gleeful smile alongside Ohanian and their daughters, Alexis Olympia and Adira River.

Ohanian responded on social media to allegations directed at Williams regarding skin bleaching, which have circulated in recent times. In his post on X, Ohanian wrote:

“Where are all the comments from individuals who don’t understand how photography lighting works.”

Ohanian’s comments, which support Williams, a former tennis superstar with nearly $300 million in career earnings, were directed at online accusations she has received regarding skin bleaching since retiring from professional tennis.

How Has Serena Williams Hit Back at the Trolls in the Past?

In Nov. 2024, Williams posted a video on social media, featuring Ohanian. Soon, some users began to accuse her of using skin bleaching to appear fairer.
Williams was quick to hold a live video session on Instagram to address the issue and respond to commenters discussing her skin complexion.
“For you haters out there, I do not bleach my skin. There is a thing called sunlight, and in that sunlight, you get different colors,” she said. Yes, I’m addressing this because it is inaccurate. Everyone’s like, ‘Oh, she bleached her skin.’ I’m a dark, Black woman, and I love who I am, and I love how I look.”
Williams made a special appearance during Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show at the 2025 Super Bowl, where she was again the subject of online comments. However, Ohanian responded, indicating that this was not the first time he had addressed comments about the tennis legend.
