Sun Belt Championship Prediction, 2023
These Sun Belt season predictions would pit West Division Champion South Alabama vs. East Division Champion Coastal Carolina. There is a road map for multiple champions in each division, with it clearly stacking against teams in the East with their depth.
Coastal has their work cut out for them with games against JMU, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, and App State, as well as their out-of-conference matchup vs. UCLA. It would certainly be argued that the road is much less traveled for the Jaguars.
With that in mind, it shapes up nicely for the South Alabama defense to once again ride their way to victory and improve to a whopping 12-1 in this season prediction.
It’s hard to argue with their sound core that returns, their strength on defense, and the ascending program that is South Alabama. It’s even harder to argue Kane Wommack returning as head coach once again as you better believe Power Five schools with empty checkbooks would come calling his way if they went 12-1 with a Sun Belt Championship in just his third season at the helm.
