It will be an SEC showdown for this year’s Sugar Bowl at the Caesars Superdome in Atlanta, Georgia, as the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs seemingly have the home field advantage against the No. 6 Ole Miss Rebels on New Year’s Day. Ole Miss will be without their former head coach, Lane Kiffin, for the second game in a row and are trying to prove they do not need him, while Georgia seeks to prove that they are truly the top team in the SEC.
As usual. several players are expected to not be playing, as they are either injured or opting out due to entering the transfer portal or have declared that they are joining the NFL draft. However, with a lot on the line during this year’s Sugar Bowl, particularly a CFP semifinal slot, not a lot of players are expected to opt out. This begs the question of who will be missing during this New Year’s Day showdown.

Sugar Bowl: Georgia vs. Ole Miss Opt-Outs And Injury Report
Ole Miss Rebels
- CB Cedrick Beavers: Injured, confirmed out
- HC Lane Kiffin: Left for LSU, Not Allowed to coach team for CFP
With the Rebels on the verge of playoff glory, no Ole Miss player is expected to opt out of the Sugar Bowl. However, some players are still expected to enter the transfer portal after this, especially with Lane Kiffin teasing that he has been talking with some of his former players at Ole Miss.
That being said, defensive coordinator Pete Golding has now taken over as head coach and is more than determined to prove that the Rebs don’t need their former head coach and are ready to start the program anew. That statement win over Tulane in the first round said it all.
