Arch Manning’s availability for the Vanderbilt match was a mystery throughout the week, as the Texas quarterback picked up an injury during the MS State game in Week 9.
After getting slammed on the ground, Manning left the field and was later put on the concussion protocol for the week.
While he was a game-time decision one day before the Vanderbilt showdown, Manning got on the field and impressed the fans with his thrilling performance, clinching a 34-31 win over Diego Pavia’s Vanderbilt.
Discussing the win and Manning’s performance, Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian told the press during the post-game interview that he’s proud of the quarterback and that it’s been a long year for him, especially with all the backlash he faced during the first few games.
“He’s really growing up before our eyes, and he’s making great decisions,” Sarkisian said after the 20th-ranked Longhorns defeated No. 9 Vanderbilt. “[I’m] very proud of him. It [has] been a long year. He [has] been through a lot and so, for him to have some of the success he’s having right now, he deserves it.”
“This was the best protection [Manning has] gotten all year,” Sarkisian added. “I thought Arch, to his credit, helped them. He did some things in protection to pick some things up to allow us to throw it down the field, but it allowed him to get through reads.”

Arch Manning Gets Real on Being Pulled Over by Traffic Police This Week
While Manning sat through his concussion protocol this week, an off-field moment made headlines when a picture of him being pulled over by the police went viral. He seemingly got a ticket in Austin.
Talking about the moment in a lighthearted manner, Manning made a case for himself and said it was a crosswalk and the signal was red with nobody around him, so he ended up crossing it.
He further joked that he now realizes that someone was probably there, explaining that it was his first time getting pulled over in Austin. Manning shared that the fact that he didn’t have his wallet and license on him didn’t help either.
“It was a little weird,” Manning said of having his traffic stop documented on social media. “My first time getting pulled over in Austin. Didn’t help that I didn’t have my wallet on me, so I didn’t have my license,” Manning said.
Texas will have a bye week in Week 11 and will then face Kirby Smart’s Georgia at Sanford Stadium.
