Shedeur Sanders vs. Quinn Ewers: Comparing the Top QBs Remaining for NFL Draft Day 3

As the 2025 NFL Draft enters its final day, Shedeur Sanders and Quinn Ewers wonder which of the 32 NFL teams will pick them. Regarding which one should come off the board first, that requires looking at their respective collegiate careers.

For Sanders, his four-year career as the quarterback of Jackson State and Colorado shows a performance that holds up stats-wise. His best completion rating as a passer was in his senior year in Boulder, at 74% while throwing for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns, compared to ten interceptions (which were the most he’s thrown for in his career).

Shedeur Sanders, Quinn Ewers Still Remaining; Which QB Has the Better Case for Day 3

Shedeur Sanders’ stats also show a resiliency in his last two years with Colorado – he was sacked 52 times, but still managed a quarterback rating of 151.7, which matched with his QBR as a freshman at Jackson State. He would also finish his senior season with a QBR of 168.2, his highest.

But a poor showing in the Alamo Bowl against BYU, combined with his not playing in the East-West Shrine Game and allegations that he “sandbagged” interviews with NFL teams, have loomed large, but not enough to deny his talent and upside.

Quinn Ewers’ tenure at the University of Texas was highlighted by his leading the Longhorns to back-to-back College Football Playoff semifinal games, despite dealing with injuries in all three of his seasons in Austin, causing him to miss seven games. His output was solid, as he averaged throwing over 3,000 yards the last two seasons.

Ewers’ senior season stands out as he threw for a career-high 31 touchdowns, but also threw for 12 interceptions while averaging 248 yards a game.

His late-game performances against Washington in the Sugar Bowl and against Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl weighed heavily in some NFL scouts’ minds.

“There’s not a lot of talent there. He’s not a starter. He’s a distributor. He’s a point guard. He ain’t going to push it down the field.”
