On Jan 23., the South Carolina Gamecocks announced that they and current head coach Shane Beamer had agreed on a contract extension. As reported by the university earlier in the day, Beamer would be signing an extension through the 2030 season.
The Gamecocks finished the year with a 9-4 overall record and a 5-3 mark against SEC opponents.
Shane Beamer’s Comments After Signing Contract Extension
After signing the contract extension, Beamer expressed his appreciation for the school’s support and his honor to continue as head coach of the Gamecocks. He then highlighted that there was more work to be done and that he was not satisfied just yet.
On3 analyst Wes Mitchell provided a transcript of the statement on the social media platform X:
“I’m proud to represent the University of South Carolina and to lead our football program as the head coach. Thank you to President Amirides, Thad Westbrook, and the Board of Trustees, Ray Tanner and Jeremiah Donati, for their trust and support. As I’ve said before, this is my dream job. My family and I love being here. We’ve accomplished a lot on and off the field over the past four years, but we’re not satisfied. There’s more to do, and we’re just getting started,” Beamer stated.
South Carolina Gamecocks 2025 Season Preview
South Carolina is expected to lose numerous key players to the NFL Draft this offseason.
As a result, Beamer will need to be active in the transfer portal and the recruiting game this offseason if the Gamecocks are to take another step forward in their development.
