SEC Analyst Ranks Favorite Conference RB Over Texas’ Tre Wisner for 2025 Season

The SEC is full of elite running back talent heading into 2025. Many people have Texas Longhorn Tre Wisner as the best back in the conference, while others see LSU Tiger Caden Durham as the leader.

However, there may be a dark horse for the title of best running back in the conference, as SEC analyst Cole Cubelic thinks that a Florida Gator should be getting more praise as we head into next season.

Gators Sophomore Jadan Baugh Named Best Running Back in Shocking Early Rankings

Lauren Beasley, a journalist for USA Today’s “College Sports Wire,” recently dropped her SEC running back rankings, in which Wisner and Caden Durham were the top two.

After that, Cubelic dropped his list on his “Cube Show” podcast, where he ranked Florida’s Jadan Baugh as the best running back in the conference.

Cubelic had some high praise for Baugh, saying, “I just marvel at a young man who is 235 pounds that is as quick as he is laterally, gets to full speed as quickly as he does, and still brings the power on a consistent basis that he does.”

It’s high praise for the true sophomore, who ran for 673 yards and seven touchdowns on 5.1 yards per carry as Florida’s running back two as a true freshman.

It’s fair to say that based on 2024, Wisner and Durham have the better arguments to be named as the best running back in the SEC as we head into 2025, as statistically, both of them were better than Baugh last season.

Last season, Durham ran for 752 yards and six touchdowns during his freshman campaign, and Wisner ran for 1,064 yards and five touchdowns as a sophomore.

However Cubelic isn’t just talking about box scores as he broke down how the Gators scheme will benefit Baugh next season, saying, “He’s going to be running outside zone a large portion of the time, which gives him the ability to use patience, find a space, find a crease put a foot in the ground, get north and south and punish defenders; something that he’s really good at.”

The good thing about this debate is that we’ll have a clear answer by the end of the 2025-2026 season, but Cubelic clearly wants to put some respect on Baugh’s name before next year begins.
