The performance of Texas quarterback Arch Manning will be under a microscope this season. After two seasons serving as a backup behind Quinn Ewers, Manning is finally stepping into the starting role for the Longhorns. Most fans and analysts are expecting him to immediately become one of the top QBs in the nation. However, there are some who are worried the hype is building a little too fast for the young QB.
Analyst Paul Finebaum is not one of those people. He is confident that the Longhorns will be one of the top contenders in the SEC next season under the leadership of head coach Steve Sarkisian. On an episode of “The Paul Finebaum Show” this week, Finebaum spoke about his expectations for the Longhorns during their first season with Manning as the starting quarterback.
“I would go with 11-1,” Finebaum said. “I’m sure you are curious which one of the games Texas would lose. I think there are a couple of possibilities: at Florida, clearly at Georgia, I think, one of those two could be a possibility. It’s a tricky schedule. I think Georgia and Florida are the two toughest games. I think Oklahoma could be pretty close after that.”
Finebaum went on to mention that although Texas plays the defending national champion Ohio State Buckeyes, in Week 1, he is not worried and thinks the Longhorns will win that game.
