    Oklahoma Sooners’ New General Manager

Most recently, Nagy was the Reese’s Senior Bowl executive director and has worked for various NFL organizations in various roles throughout his career. He was a regional scout for the Washington Commanders, New England Patriots, and Seattle Seahawks. Nagy was also a national scout for the Kansas City Chiefs as well.

Breneman took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to discuss the hire of Nagy as general manager of the Sooners program.

“Oklahoma just made a MAJOR hire at GM. Jim Nagy is coming over from the Senior Bowl, the best All-Star showcase for the NFL. He also has a wide array of experience in the NFL with numerous different teams. Now he’s running Oklahoma, and it will be in the vein of an NFL team. This hire shows Oklahoma is investing for the future,” Breneman stated.

Will Oklahoma Be Better Next Season?

This past year, the Sooners struggled in their first season in the SEC. The Oklahoma school finished the season with an overall record of 6-7 and went 2-6 against fellow SEC opponents.

In offensive points per game, the team ranked No. 100 amongst all college football programs, averaging only 24.0 per contest. Yet, the program was better defensively, averaging only 21.5 points against per game, a value that ranked No. 29 in the nation last year.

Looking to next season, the Sooners appear to have found a general manager who has valuable scouting and NFL experience.

In the new age of college football, one with a major emphasis on recruiting and the transfer portal, Nagy will need to be a leading force in the Sooners program if the school hopes to bring in a strong group of players who can compete for the SEC Championship and the National Title.

Only time will tell how Nagy and the Sooners do next campaign. However, Breneman clearly believes that Nagy can bring the Sooners back to the top of college football.
