Ole Miss Rebels wide receiver Caleb Odom has criticized his former coach, Lane Kiffin, for not telling the players in person about his move to the LSU Tigers. On Sunday, Nov. 30, it was announced through newly appointed LSU coach Kiffin’s X/Twitter account that he is departing from his role at the helm of the Rebels after a six-year run.
In a post by user @Devo662, they included a screenshot of a now-deleted tweet by Odom, who slammed Kiffin for not properly saying goodbye to the Ole Miss players.
“COULDN’T EVEN COME FACE TO FACE WITH YOUR PLAYERS AND TELL THEM YOURSELF,” Odom wrote with a thumbs down emoji.

Perhaps the frustrations being expressed by the likes of Odom and the rest of the Ole Miss faithful towards Kiffin come as Ole Miss currently leads the SEC in the standings heading into postseason play, and he decided to move to their rivals, LSU. In Kiffin’s final game as the Rebels coach, Ole Miss won by 19 points, 38-19, over the Mississippi State Bulldogs to finish the 2025 regular season with an 11-1 overall record (7-1).
Odom will continue his second year of college football after being under the tutelage of Kiffin for 12 regular-season games. The youngster spent his first year with coach Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2024 campaign, before transferring to the Rebels to be coached by Kiffin. The Carrollton, Georgia, native has become one of the premier wide receivers for Ole Miss in just his first campaign there.

Lane Kiffin Is Still Rooting For The Ole Miss Rebels To Win A National Championship
Despite his premature exit from the Ole Miss Rebels, Lane Kiffin is still rooting for the program to win it all someday in the NCAA tournament. In the final paragraph of his emotional farewell letter to the Rebels, he claimed that he still wishes that Ole Miss finish what they started and win a national title.
He also remarked that he is grateful for the time he spent there.
“While I am looking forward to a new start with a unique opportunity at LSU, I will forever cherish the incredible six years I spent at Ole Miss and will be rooting hard for the team to complete their mission and bring a championship to Oxford,” Kiffin said.
