The last time Nick Saban coached LSU, he won a national championship, and with the Tigers needing a new football coach, there were new rumors that he might unretire and coach his former team again. This was the latest rumor regarding him unretiring, with previous ones stating that he would come out of retirement and coach the Cleveland Browns in the NFL.
However, those previous rumors were shot down by his family and friends, including Saban himself. As for this current rumor about his unretirement, during Saturday’s episode of College Game Day, Nick Saban also shut them down once again, stating that he likes being an ESPN analyst these days, effectively saying that he is not planning to come back to coaching.
“I like my team right here,” Nick Saban said, referring to his College Game Day team.

These days, the seven-time national champion has been busy in working as a College Game Day analyst for ESPN, alongside Pat McAfee. He has been very vocal during the show about being satisfied at where he is right now, often debunking the various unretirement rumors himself during the broadcast.
The rumors come as LSU’s athletic department is in chaos following perceived meddling by Louisiana governor Jeff Landry, who slammed then-Athletic Director Scott Woodward, who soon got fired after the governor’s tirade. Landry and the school were criticized for that move, with critics arguing that politicians meddling in school affairs could turn off potential new players and coaches.

Nick Saban Gives Honest Opinion on LSU and Florida Coaching Situation
In terms of money being offered, the open coaching jobs at LSU and Florida may become some of the highest offers in college football. During “The Pat McAfee Show,” Nick Saban weighed in on the current situation at those schools, which recently fired their respective head coaches after disappointing seasons.
“External factors are constantly changing in College Football. How are you able to adapt to those circumstances. LSU and Florida are traditionally the best jobs but are they the best jobs now?” Saban asked.

The two highly-coveted coaching jobs are still open, with both schools still continuing their search for a new coach. Several names have already been tied to either school, including Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin.
