Ahead of marquee Big Ten clash between Michigan and Nebraska at Memorial Stadium, College GameDay host Nick Saban and Wolverines interim head coach Biff Poggi traded playful barbs in a hilarious exchange on College GameDay show.
Host Pat McAfee asked Poggi about his history with the former Alabama coach. The Michigan coach recalled that years ago Saban had called him with exciting news about landing a Ferrari franchise, leading to Poggi’s interest to buy an 812 Superfast, Ferrari’s crown jewel at the time.
“I will tell you that we’ve been friends a long time,” Poggi said. “And, I don’t know, he called me five or six years ago. He goes, ‘Hey, guess what? I’ve been chosen for a Ferrari dealership.’ I said, ‘Oh, man, congratulations. Let me be the first guy to buy a car from you, and I’ll buy the coolest car they make, the 812 Superfast.’ He goes, ‘Oh, yeah, great, perfect. I’ll have it all set up.’”
It has been years since and yet Poggi has not received his car. As such, he took a playful dig at Saban.
“Well, I will have a beard down to my knees before I see that 812 Superfast. He’s drunk,” Poggi said.
Upon hearing this, Saban accused Poggi of having “alligator arms” when the deal was supposed to go through.
“Well, here was the problem. When we got right down to the transaction, you had alligator arms. You could not reach in your pocket,” Saban said.
Poggi said he bought Rolls Royce to suggest that money was never an issue.
“Why don’t you ask the guy, you should ask the Rolls dealer I just bought my car from, if I had alligator arms,” Poggi replied.
“You lost a friend and a customer.” 😭

Biff Poggi Hits Back At Nick Saban Over Coaching Too
The conversation between the two turned from Ferrari’s dealership to coaching. Nick Saban teased Biff Poggi during his time at Saint Francis Academy from 2017 to 2020, where he served as a head coach, investor and basically running all major operations.
Taking note of Poggi’s Jerry Jones-esque experience there, Saban sarcastically asked why he never coached a down there.
“I got to ask you, when you were at St. Francis, I never saw you coach a down. You were the owner. You were Jerry Jones. You paid the players and all that. You did the payroll. Are you using the same philosophy at Michigan now?” Saban asked.
However, Poggi had the last laugh, as he replied:
“Yeah, and I learned all that from you. So, you know.”
The current Wolverines interim head coach converted the school into a powerhouse by investing his own money. He won state championships in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
