Is Xavier Worthy Playing Tonight? All We Know About Kansas City Star’s Status vs Jacksonville Jaguars

Fans want to know if they can expect Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy to suit up for the Monday Night Football game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

His availability status comes under question following his collision with teammate Travis Kelce in the season opener, that resulted in shoulder dislocation, forcing him to miss two games before turning up for the game against the Baltimore Ravens last week. In that game he caught five receptions for 83 yards. Let’s examine whether he’ll be available for MNF matchup.

Is Xavier Worthy Playing Tonight vs Jaguars?

One day ahead of the matchup, the Chiefs have downgraded Xavier Worthy’s status to “questionable” for Monday’s game. His shoulder remains a concern but his ankle issue was also added along with the status.

His ankle was reportedly swollen when he got off the plane in Jacksonville, adding to injury concerns. Despite that, Worthy was full participant the entire week, suggesting that he could suit up for the game despite the questionable designation on injury report. Matt Verderame of Sports Illustrated wrote on X:

“I’m told that while the Chiefs have Xavier Worthy listed as questionable (shoulder/ankle), the expectation is he will be okay for MNF against the Jaguars. We’ll see how his body feels tomorrow, but KC is hopeful he’ll be able to go.”

Andy Reid Offers Insight Into Xavier Worthy’s Practice Week

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is the best man to ask on how Xavier Worthy was during practice last week. Reid said Worthy’s legs are not an issue and noted he was “fast.”

“Fast. We never worry about his legs, right? That was an upper-body injury. So, he’s been able to keep himself in good shape. Ready to go do what we ask him to do,” Reid said.

Moreover, before the Ravens game, Reid said they will take cautious approach while handling Worthy’s injury. The head coach said they would only play if he’s “healthy enough.”

“Yeah, listen, you gotta be healthy enough to go play,” Reid said. “I mean, you’re not gonna put him out there if he’s not healthy enough to go play.”

If Worthy plays, it’ll be a big boost for Kansas City.
