When Is Travis Hunter Coming Back? Jaguars CB’s Expected Return Explored as Jacksonville Pushes to Clinch Playoff Spot

The Jacksonville Jaguars enter Week 15 of the 2025-2026 NFL season with a 9-4 record and are in good position to appear in the postseason.

The Jaguars were looked at as a team in a potential rebuild year, holding a top-five pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and making many organizational changes such as a new change at head coach with Liam Coen leading the team as well as general manager, James Gladstone.

In their first offseason running the Jaguars, Jacksonville made the aggressive move to trade up to No. 2 in the draft with the Cleveland Browns. The Jaguars selected the 2024-2025 Heisman and two-way starter, Travis Hunter.

Hunter continued to play as a two-way starter, serving as a cornerback and wide receiver for the Jags. Unfortunately for Hunter, he suffered a serious injury in Week 7.

Travis Hunter Injury Update: Will Jags’ two-way star play again this season?

During a team practice on October 30, 2025, Travis Hunter suffered a knee injury in practice and was placed on injured reserve.

Less than two weeks later, Hunter had surgery on November 11 to repair a torn lateral collateral ligament. He was then ruled out for the rest of the 2025-2026 season.

Hunter recorded 28 receptions for 298 yards and a receiving touchdown while recording 15 tackles and three pass deflections in seven games played this season. He should be healthy at the start of next season.

While the Jaguars won’t have Hunter back this season, they made a good move to trade for Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers on Nov. 4. Since arriving to the team, Meyers has recorded 22 receptions for 284 yards and three receiving touchdowns.

Other receivers such as Parker Washington and Tim Patrick have stepped up this season for Jacksonville while tight end Brenton Strange continued to emerge as one of the league’s more productive tight ends.
