For just about the last decade, Pittsburgh Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt has been one of the best pass rushers and defensive players in the NFL.
Watt’s led the league in sacks in three different seasons and tied the NFL record for most sacks in a single season (22.5) in 2021. He’s been named to seven Pro Bowls, six All-Pro teams, and was named the 2021 Defensive Player of the Year.
This season, in Year 9, Watt signed a three-year $123 million extension prior to the season. In Week 12, he surpassed his brother J.J. Watt in career sacks as he notched his 115th of his career.
What Happened to T.J. Watt?
While T.J. Watt has been active for all 13 of the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ games this season, he’s in jeopardy to miss this Monday night’s game against the Miami Dolphins. A developing and concerning story has appeared in Pittsburgh as Watt is currently in a local hospital getting evaluation done on one of his lungs.
Watt suffered discomfort in one is lungs at the team facility and suffered an injury during treatment at the team facility on Wednesday. As a result, he is getting further tests done as he missed today’s practice.

The Steelers‘ football team released the following statement regarding Watt’s situation:
“T.J. Watt is currently in a local hospital for further medical evaluation of his lung after experiencing discomfort at the practice facility on Wednesday. He will not be at practice on Thursday and his status for Monday night’s game vs. Miami is in question. Coach Tomlin will provide more updates at the appropriate time.”
Watt had six tackles in the Steelers’ 27-22 Week 14 win over the Baltimore Ravens this past Sunday. The win boosted the Steelers’ record to 7-6 and put them in sole possession of first place in the AFC North division.
